Looking for a rewarding career in international development? The ADB Young Professionals Program (YPP) is your gateway to building a future in development, offering a structured career path, professional growth, and a wealth of experience at the Asian Development Bank (ADB). This program is designed to attract and nurture the next generation of global leaders committed to ADB’s mission in Asia and the Pacific.

What is the ADB YPP 2025?

The ADB Young Professionals Program (YPP) is an entry-level recruitment initiative for talented individuals who want to work in international development. Participants will start their career at ADB’s headquarters in Manila and gain hands-on experience through rotational assignments in various departments, including Climate, Thematic, Private Sector Operations, and Economic Research.

Typical ADB YP Career Progression

Participants in the ADB YPP begin at International Staff Level 1 (IS1) under a Fixed Term Appointment (FT-REG) with the first 12 months as a probationary period. Upon successfully completing this probation, Young Professionals are confirmed and promoted to Level 2. After graduating from the program, YPs are promoted to Level 3 and absorbed into a regular, budgeted position. This structured progression allows participants to grow within ADB and develop their careers in international development.

Eligibility for ADB YPP 2025

To qualify for the ADB Young Professionals Program (YPP), candidates must:

  • Be 32 years or younger by August 1, 2025.

  • Hold a first-level university degree with a proven academic record.
  • Have at least 3 years of relevant professional experience in a field related to ADB’s operations.

Why Choose ADB YPP?

With the ADB Young Professionals Program, you have the chance to work on high-impact projects that drive sustainable development in Asia and the Pacific. Join a community of professionals committed to addressing challenges in areas such as climate change, infrastructure development, and poverty reduction. This program not only shapes your professional career but also contributes to a brighter future for millions of people.

ADB YPP Curriculum: Rotational Assignments for Skill Building

During the ADB YPP, participants gain hands-on experience across various sectors of ADB operations. Initially, YPs are placed in either a Solutions Department (such as Climate, Thematic, or Private Sector Operations) or a non-operational department at ADB’s headquarters in Manila. Key departments include Economic Research and Regional Cooperation (ERCD), Office of Public-Private Partnership (OPPP), and Strategy, Policy, and Partnerships (SPD).

After 18 months, YPs undergo a rotational assignment within another sector or department, offering broader exposure and experience in diverse fields such as project review, country programming, sector and policy studies, and disbursement activities. This rotation helps deepen YPs’ understanding of ADB’s operations and provides valuable experience in areas like climate change, sustainable development, and public-private partnerships.
